About Korbinian
The violinist Korbinian Altenberger is an established and much appreciated soloist and chamber musician worldwide.
After several years of studying and performing in the USA, he returned to his hometown Munich to take the position of concertmaster of the 2nd violins at the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Previously, he was first concertmaster at the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra.
With 12 he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival, winning numerous prizes at international competitions such as the Postacchini Competition, Michael Hill Violin Competition, Concours International de Violon Tibor Varga and at the Montreal International Music Competition.
As a soloist, he has appeared with the Orchestre National of the Pays de la Loire, Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Göttingen Symphony Orchestra and the SR & SWR Symphony Orchestras.
In North and South America, he recently performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, the Iris Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Costa Rica.
Korbinian received special musical impulses through his chamber music collaborations with artists like Shmuel Ashkenasi and Gerhard Schulz, Leon Fleisher, Mitsuko Uchida and members of the Guameri, Juilliard and Cleveland Quartets.
His enthusiasm for chamber music was strongly influenced by repeated invitations to various festivals in the USA (Ravinia, Caramoor and Marlboro) as well as in Europe, for example Prussia Cove in the UK, Verbier in Switzerland, the Moritzburg Festival and the Israeli Chamber Project.
